The Obama Campaign is looking for groups of Illinois Obama supporters who will commit to traveling to Iowa multiple times before the caucuses to go door to door persuading Iowa voters to attend their precinct caucuses for Barack Obama.

Join the Sister City Program.

Step #1: Organize your group of volunteers willing to travel to Iowa multiple times before the caucuses. Decide who the leadership will be and who will stay in contact with Obama staff.

Step #2: Schedule a training meeting with the Illinois Obama team where you will be assigned your turf in Iowa, receive training on the Iowa caucuses, learn how to use my.barackobama.com to organize your group, and begin to schedule your trips to Iowa. 

Step #3: Start traveling to Iowa!!!
Before each trip to Iowa, your team will schedule a training with the Illinois Obama team so that new members of your group can receive important caucus trainings and updated information about the campaign. Once in Iowa, your team will be paired up with Iowa volunteers and staff for door to door efforts.

Once you have your assigned turf, the Illinois Obama staff will work with you on logistics of planning your trips, preparing your walk packets, and trying to find volunteer housing in or near Iowa.

Illinois Sister City teams will travel back to the same turf in Iowa on each trip to build personal connections and familiarity. Because of the low attendance at the Iowa caucuses, these door to door efforts are the best way to convince new Iowa voters to caucus for Barack Obama.
